On 4 November, 2025, University of St Andrews graduate Jasmine Mitchell won the sixteenth series of the Great British Bake Off following ten weeks of competition. Mitchell ultimately beat out fellow finalists Aaron Mountford-Myles and Tom Arden.

Born and raised in Edinburgh, Mitchell graduated from the University in 2024 with a BSc in Medicine. She is currently continuing her medical degree in London.

The 23-year-old cited her mother and aunts as her mentors, finding her passion for baking on family holidays in Scottish Highlands.

In the season finale, bakers were challenged to bake finger buns, a Madeleine tower, and a 2.1 metre-tall centrepiece cake throughout the show’s three rounds. Surrounded by her family and friends in the Bake Off garden in Welford Park, Berkshire, Mitchell was awarded the competition’s traditional cake stand and flower bouquet by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

The University of St Andrews congratulated Mitchell’s victory on Instagram and X, posting: “Congratulations to our alumna Jasmine Mitchell, medicine graduate, star baker, and now Champion of the Great British Bake Off! 🍰 ⭐ 🏆 #EverToExcel
