Your weekly Sunday League round-up

The Sunday League returned with aplomb after Reading Week with drama from the outset.
Beavers extended their lead at the top of the table with a 4-2 win over Butts Wynderers in the early kick-off. The Wynderers put on a resilient display against quality opposition, but at this stage of the season, it’s results they need if they’re to have any chance of survival.
Meanwhile, Paqueta Crisps have been dragged into the relegation conversation after suffering a 7-3 dismantling at the hands of in-form Spartans. The Crispmen have now failed to pick up a win in the league since the opening game of the season.
Sheffield Tuesday eased their relegation concerns with a commanding 5-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Bolton Fondlers. We are led to believe that the fifth goal was scored by a 12-year-old invited on as a substitute by Tuesday. Whether the young local is a registered player has sparked controversy, but reports confirm that he ‘buried it’.
Strokers came out on top in the pick of the games in a ten-goal thriller, edging Botswana Meat Commission 6-4 to keep the pressure firmly on the league leaders.
Division 1 is taking shape with only three points separating the top four, while at the bottom, just two points divide Paqueta Crisps, Sheffield Tuesday, and Butts Wynderers.
Next weekend could prove decisive as third-place Spartans go to table-toppers Beavers in the late kick-off. With Sheffield Tuesday at home to in-form Strokers and Butts Wynderers with a big away day to Botswana, it’s a chance for Bolton Fondlers to close the gap on their relegation rivals.
I don’t care if Monday’s blue, ladies and gentlemen — it’s Sunday I’m in love.
