Juan Pablo Rodriguez Elected Association President

St Andrews students have elected Juan Pablo Rodriguez as Association President in the Student's Association elections. He beat incumbent Lottie Doherty who was seeking a second term.

Juan Pablo Rodriguez won by 19 votes with 695 first round votes compared to Lottie's 676. Voters were attracted to Juan Pablo's radical manifesto which didn't back UCU Action and called for more urgent action on the student accommodation crisis.

The elections were marked by voter apathy, as the candidates' debate saw an extremely poor turnout.

The new President will face the pressing issues of strike action and lack of accomodation and has already pledged 10% of his salary to begin his own President Scholarship.

The other Sabbatical election winners were as follows:

DOES:

Winner: Lucy Brooks 895 votes

Loser: Luke Adams 294 votes

DOWELL:

Winner: Emma Craig 806 votes

Loser: Hannah Page 368 votes

DOSDA:

Winner: Sam Gorman 600 votes

Loser: Aonghus Marshall votes 393

AU President:

Winner: Ailsa Martin votes 1070

Loser: Ran unopposed
