A Sprint Start for the Bubble

St Andrews Shop X Lululemon Launch

ree

If you have taken a turn in the St Andrews Shop this semester, you may have been surprised to find a Lululemon poster proudly displayed in red and white above the stock. Unlike the shop’s Under Armour or Yeti partnerships, this new collaboration has located and captured its target audience (let’s face it: young, rich Americans!) to perfection. What better way to celebrate than with St Andrews’ best-loved run club, Sophie Warren’s Bubble?

Having booked my free ticket, I walked briskly up Bridge Street armed with only my Garmin and my Lulu leggings to meet my friends (and an impressively large troupe of other runners) at 8am. After a bit of a chat and a catch up, we were off. The Bubble run usually consists of a conversational 3km to West Sands and back with a break on the beach. Apart from the admirable flock of newcomers, today was no different.

After our exertions, we were once more greeted at the doors of the shop by the Lululemon team. This time they were handing out goodie bags with Lululemon water bottles inside — a generous gift indeed. The treats did not end there. A cheerful line formed, and each runner received an iced matcha drink and cinnamon bun from Spoiled Life, Bubble’s usual partner. Whether you were a Fresher or seasoned fourth-year, the spritely atmosphere was reflective of the good first impression the launch had made.

Warren, Bubble’s founder, considers the three-way collaboration: “Having a global brand like Lululemon invest in the town shows how much appetite there is here for community and wellness. For Bubble, it’s amazing to be part of that launch and to help connect more people through running.”

St Andrews, the home of golf, a vibrant student town, and a place steeped in sporting and social tradition, makes the perfect backdrop for a partnership with a brand like Lululemon.

For the town, Bubble promotes “community and wellness.” For the students, it stands as an enthusiastic and vibrant collective where friends can be made and hobbies pursued, all in the name of physical and mental health. The club’s engagement consists largely of the female student body, but it is open to anyone who can brave the 8am start. Week after week, the runs gather sizable groups, speaking to Bubble’s ability to create a fun, welcoming space for its members.

Alongside the original Run Club exists its sibling, Bubble Uni Life, the social club ‘for girls of St. Andrews’. Bubble also recently launched its Pilates classes, set to take place at The Malt Barn on South Street every Sunday at 9:15am with limited bookable slots opening seven days in advance.

In the spirit of the launch, I asked Warren if she had any advice for budding runners: “Don’t overthink it. You don’t need to be fast, you don’t need all the ‘right’ gear, and don’t compare yourself to others. Start small, like a walk-jog, and if you can, find people to run with. Running feels so much easier and more fun when it’s social.”

All you need to run is the courage to take the first step. This launch event celebrated that courage and the spirit of togetherness that Bubble cultivates. Whether or not you show up in the new Lululemon gear, Bubble will be there for you outside Spoiled Life every Friday at 8am — you won’t want to miss it!
