Police launch appeal after assault in Union

The police have launched an appeal for information relating to an assault which took place in the Union building on 23 May.

The assault, which resulted in the injured party having to receive treatment at Ninewells hospital, took place on the first floor dance floor of the union at around 2 am and was reported around 5 am.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police in Fife are investigating an assault that took place last month in the centre of St Andrews.

“The incident happened in the area of St Marys Place at around 2 am on Saturday 23 May . Officers are keen to trace a white male who is described as being aged around 22 years old with a stocky/athletic build and around five feet 10 inches tall. He has short dark hair, possibly worn in a gelled back style, and at the time of the attack he was wearing a black suit and white shirt.

“Anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information that can assist the police with their investigation is asked to get in touch on 101 or speak to any officer.”
