The St Andrews Students’ Association have announced that they have reached an agreement with Washstation Laundry that means the company will work to lower their prices by next academic year.
The Students’ Association have stated that they will push for more clarity of the specifics of price changes but that the current concessions “represent a huge win for students in halls, and a testament to months of hard work done by student representatives and campaigners”.
Jamie Rodney, President of the Students’ Association, said that “In these stressful times, it’s nice to get some good news”.
Mr Rodney has been in contact with Katy Mitchell, Director of Washstation, regarding the laundry concerns of students and he believes that, by achieving these concessions, “this will get rid of the moral scandal of students having to choose between food and laundry”.
Mr Rodney also commended the efforts of everyone who was involved in the campaign towards tackling the issues brought about by Washstation, saying “the fact that this has been achieved by a grassroots student effort makes this even better, and the amount of people who told is this was impossible better still”.
