On The Rocks is currently in the midst of its application process – societies, students, individuals are all welcome to send in an idea and become a part of the festival until this Sunday, 18 November.
The process consists of two steps: first, an online application which can be accessed through their website (ontherocksfestival.com), followed by a meeting at their office hours. Nearing the final deadline of applications, the last chance to drop in will be tomorrow, Wednesday 2-4 p.m. in the Union Main Bar. Groups planning to put on events must complete both stages of application. In case this is not possible, there remains an option to reach out to Head of Programming Sarah Greenberg for other arrangements.
Any art project is welcome – some submissions so far include astrophotography, and pop-up events such as flash mobs. The organising committee is keen to help everyone in bringing their ideas to fruition with as few limitations as possible. Venues not backed by the University should be contacted by the artists personally to see availability.
For ticketed events, there is a ₤20 registration fee, while non-ticketed events are free to organise. On The Rocks is willing to support anyone with issues of funding by leading them on the right track; however, they cannot provide direct funding.
The organising committee highlights that all individuals are welcome, both from and out of St Andrews.
This year’s festival will take place between 5 and 14 April.
