A further 6,100 homes and businesses in St Andrews are now able to receive fibre broadband.

With speeds of up to 80Mbps per hour, this means that houses full of students will be able to download articles or watch Netflix at the same time and at faster speed than ever.

This is part of the £410 million Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband scheme, which aims to provide the infrastructure for fibre broadband across parts of Scotland not included in commercial provider’s investment plans.

Its aim is to provide fibre broadband to 85 per cent of premises in Scotland by the end of 2016 and to 95 per cent by the end of 2018.
