The St Andrews University Rugby Club is currently enjoying a rather successful period, with an unbeaten and ultimately victorious season last year, and a start to 2014/15 to match. Once again they are yet to lose a match, and retained their crown as Varsity champions with victory over Edinburgh last month. Within the club however, there are certain individuals shining like a beacon of superiority. Scrumhalf Finn Murphy of the first XV was recently selected, and scored for, the Scotland U19 Rugby League team in a fixture against Ireland at the Tallaght stadium. The future of the men’s rugby club looks particularly bright as players like Murphy move through the ranks.
Speaking to a peripheral member in the rugby club, he said that all were delighted for, and exceptionally proud of Finn Murphy. They are hoping that Murphy provides a great precedent in getting more university players on the international scene.
