Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo star Milton Jones is coming to St Andrews for one night only next Friday! The collaboration between the Students’ Association and the newly formed St Andrews Comedy Club aims to fill the comedic void and offer a different style of night for both town and gown to enjoy.
Jones’ wacky brand of comedy, mainly involving one-liners and puns, has made him a firm family favourite. In 2011, Milton’s radio show won a silver Sony Award, and he also won Chortle Headliner of the Year for his stand-up. In 2012 his radio show was nominated for a Writers Guild Award, and he has just been commissioned for his 10th series on Radio 4.
St Andrews Comedy director David Wright commented: “After a sellout run at the Edinburgh Festival we’re incredibly excited to bring a comedian of Milton’s standing to St Andrews. It’s going to be a fantastic night of entertainment during the Dunhill and we’re sure the crowd will be a great mix of students, residents and celebs. Personally I can’t wait to kick back and relax to listen to one of my favourite British comedians after a heavy Freshers’ Week. However if you’re still going strong, Daniel Palmer is giving away free entry to the BOP with the first two hundred tickets sold!”
Mr Palmer himself seems really keen for the event, posting on Facebook earlier: “Not my event but it’s still really exciting that students are doing things like this, I’ll be going!”
Tickets are £20.50 and can be bought from the Union website. The event starts at 20:00 in Younger Hall. And just in case you haven’t heard of him (seriously, where have you been?), here are a few of his best moments!
