The Students’ Association has launched a new website alongside a redesigned logo as part of the Union’s physical and virtual redevelopment.
The new website was built by Membership Solutions Limited (MSL), which manages websites for over 40 student associations around the country. It includes new content such as records of SRC minutes and the results of elections, as well as updated information about the Union and its services. It will also include a new societies portal – where societies can log in and handle administration – once the transfer from the old system is complete.
The relaunch has been planned at least since January, though the need for a fresh design has been recognised for much longer than that. The previous website was frequently criticised for being outdated and difficult to use, but the Association was unable to change it because of a five-year maintenance contract with BAM. The Association and BAM agreed to terminate their contract in May, one year early, allowing for a new two-year contract with MSL to be signed.
The Association also launched a redesigned logo. An explanation of the rebranding was posted on the Association’s Facebook page:
Chloe Hill, president of the Students’ Association, said: “We are really excited about today’s launch. We hope that our new website is more accessible and more informative for our students. Our rebranding presents in three sections what the Students’ Association does for students: activities, voice and places.”
