Ladies golf triumph at first Order of Merit of the year

The Ladies Golf Club’s 1st Team kick started their season with a great performance at the first Order of Merit, held at Ladybank Golf Club.

The girls won both the individual and team competition, on a rather long course which proved to be even more demanding on a windy final round.

Welsh international, Gemma Bradbury, won the women’s event with consistent scores of 73-71, for 144. Gemma won with a significant 11 shot margin ahead of runner-up Rachel McQueen from Elmwood College (76-79 = 155).

Megan Jones, Nadia Green and Georgina Mosquera all had notably good rounds, individually finishing 4th, 6th and 7th.

Their combined scores ensured that the three leading St Andrews players, Gemma Bradbury, Megan Jones (78-83) and Georgina Mosquera (82-80) won the Women’s team event for St Andrews.

With a good start to the year, the girls are looking forward to continuing their good form at the second SUS Order of Merit, held at the Fairmont golf course on 30th – 31st October.
